— On their return to Connecticut, Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever had a difficult game, losing to the Sun 89-72. Indiana is now 0-3 this season against one of the top WNBA teams after losing by 21 points in Connecticut and then falling to the Sun in Indiana, 88-84.
Clark was unable to match her performance from Friday’s game against the Washington Mystics, in which the Fever won with her scoring thirty points.
The Sun held May’s WNBA Rookie of the Month to just 10 points in spite of her playing just 22 minutes; she left the game in the middle of the third quarter after picking up her fourth foul and did not come back.
After the game, Clark was plainly upset with the team’s performance, but she did grin when I questioned her about Dan Hurley, the head coach of the UConn men’s basketball team, choosing to stay with the Huskies rather than take a head coaching position with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Clark grinned and responded, “I saw that,” when I asked him about Hurley’s choice.
