When Mr. Sunak brought up the industrial action done by health care employees, there was some irate shouting from the audience because the NHS England waiting list had amassed nearly 7.5 million cases.
“We’ve not made as much progress on cutting waiting lists as I would have liked,” he stated.
“That was something that I was keen to do, and it has proved more difficult for a number of reasons, obviously recovering from a pandemic is not easy.”
“I think everyone knows the impact the industrial action has had, that’s why we haven’t made as much [progress],” he remarked, drawing boos and groans from the audience.
“Tax cuts for people at every stage for people at every stage of their life” was a pledge made again by Mr. Sunak.
Addressing concerns that a future Conservative government might impose a higher tax burden than the one currently in place, Mr. Sunak stated: “Our manifesto announced tax cuts for people at every stage of their lives—for people in work, for people starting small businesses, for self-employed individuals, for young people looking to purchase their first homes, for pensioners, and for families.”
