Seismological officials reported that on Wednesday night, the coastal metropolis of Karachi and the surrounding territories in the southern province of Sindh felt the shockwaves of a mild-to-moderate earthquake.
The National Seismic Monitoring Centre (NSMC) reports that the earthquakes were detected around 9:26 p.m.
The earthquake occurred at a depth of 42 kilometers and had a Richter scale magnitude of 3.2. The earthquake’s epicentre was 32 kilometers southwest of Karachi.
Authorities have urged locals to maintain their composure and are keeping an eye on the situation. No immediate reports of casualties or damage were made.
An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.7 rocked areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Rawalpindi, and Islamabad earlier in the day.
The twin cities and other cities in the northwest province of the nation felt the vibrations from the earthquake.
Peshawar, Swat, Parachinar, Malakand, Lower Dir, Hangu, Charsadda, Swabi, and the adjacent districts were among the KP cities where there were earthquakes. The areas of North and South Waziristan also reported feeling the tremors.
The southeast of Afghanistan was the epicenter of the earthquake, according to the National Seismic Monitoring Center.
