Pakistan and India are grouped together in the finalized schedule for this year’s ICC T20 World Cup.
Twenty teams will compete in the tournament, which is scheduled to take place in the United States and the West Indies from June 4 to June 30. The twenty teams are split up into four groups for the first round.
Sources claim that Ireland, Canada, Pakistan, and the United States, who are hosting, are the other members of their group.
Therefore, most of Pakistan’s group’s matches in the first round are scheduled to take place in the United States.
On June 6, Pakistan will play its first game against the United States. The highly awaited match between archrivals Pakistan and India will thereafter take place.
The first-round matchup with Ireland is set on June 16 in Florida, and the match between Pakistan and Canada is slated for June 11 in New York.
The top two teams from each of the four groups will advance to the Super Eight stage, where they will be split into two groups, after the first round.
The sources claim that the cricket boards and the broadcasters have received the timetable from the ICC for their review and approval, and that the final schedule would be made public shortly.
According to sources, the possibility of moving the Pakistan-India match to an earlier date may arise from the timing of the match and the time zones that separate the USA and the subcontinent.
It should be noted that Pakistan is ten hours ahead of New York in terms of time, so the midday match would really air late at night there.
The game might be moved to Saturday, June 8, in order to prevent having an impact on the number of viewers.
