ISLAMABAD It seems improbable that Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), would be released from prison anytime soon, according to Awami Muslim League (AML) president Sheikh Rashid.
At a district and sessions court in Islamabad, Rashid told the reporters, “They won’t allow PTI founder to be released at this moment.”
The former federal minister made these comments as Khan, who has been incarcerated since August of last year and is serving a variety of sentences, could potentially be set free if a district and sessions court grants his request for a sentence suspension in the ongoing iddat case.
The trial court found the former premier and his wife Bushra Bibi’s nikah to be false in February of this year. The former premier has previously won relief in £190 million reference, cipher, and Toshakhana lawsuits.
The administration of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has declared that it will make an effort to keep the PTI founder incarcerated.
The PM’s advisor stated on Tuesday on the Geo News show “Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath” that “Imran Khan’s main agenda is to destabilize the country and spread chaos and anarchy in the country, that’s why the government will certainly try to keep him behind bars as long as possible.”
