Pakistan has stated that it is still working to stop cross-border terrorism, especially that which originates in Afghanistan. Between April and June 2024, security forces carried out 7,500 operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, which led to the killing of 181 militants who were allegedly connected to the TTP and ISKP.
The government cited a number of recent terrorist attacks, such as the June 2 assassination of two miners in Duki, Balochistan, the May 2024 attack on a marble factory in Mohmand Agency, and the June 19 murder of a news reporter in Landikotal.
According to Pakistani officials, evidence points to Afghanistan as the primary hub for terrorist activity, with the TTP maintaining major safe havens there. Additionally, the US has verified that the TTP and ISKP are active attack planners in Afghanistan and that they are present in Pakistan.
