Fans were spotted scaling fences and jumping over security barriers to gain entry to the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, several hours before the game’s scheduled kickoff at 8 p.m. (local time).
Social media posts also featured fans—some of whom may not have had tickets—rushing past security personnel and stadium staff as screaming could be heard in the background.
A policeman and the man accompanying a young Argentine fan let him through the gate, where he sobbed uncontrollably while they attempted to console him.
In order to prevent anyone else from entering, the officers managed to drive the throng back behind the gates.
At 8.10 p.m., with a rescheduled kickoff time of 9:15 p.m., they started to gradually admit fans into the stadium. However, a few fanatics again stormed the entrance, smashing barricades and jolting security scanners back and forth.
There was a fan on the ramp leading to the stadium seats who was waving a Colombian flag, and three police officers were handcuffing him.
