According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) on Thursday, there have been at least 24 rain-related deaths and 17 injuries over the past three days in various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The PDMA also issued a warning that more rain is likely in the province over the next few days.
In order to conduct rescue and relief operations in the impacted areas, the PDMA, district administrations, and rescue teams are collaborating.
At least eighteen individuals lost their lives as roads, bridges, and homes werehed away in various sections of the province, according to a report published in The News yesterday.
In a report released on Thursday, the province’s PDMA stated that since July 29th, the monsoonal spell has resulted in significant downpours in several parts of the province.
According to the disaster-management authorities, rains in the divisions of Kohat, Peshawar, DI Khan, Hazara, and Malakand caused damage to 77 dwellings, leaving 73 completely demolished and 77 others slightly damaged.
The KP’s PDMA issued another alert today, warning that most districts of the province will experience a new round of monsoon rains starting today and lasting until August 6. The alert stated that the new weather system will bring with it heavy showers, thunderstorms, and lightning in the following areas: Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Bajaur, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Kohat, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Charsadda, Hangu, Kurram, Waziristan, Dera Ismail Khan, and Mohmand.
