QUETTA/GWADAR: Despite coming to an agreement with the authorities to halt their demonstrations, the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has persisted with its rallies and sit-ins throughout Balochistan, citing the closure of roads and making a number of other demands.
There are currently protests going on in Mastung, Quetta, Gwadar City, and other places. In an effort to force the government to carry out their deal, free the demonstrators who have been arrested, and drop the false accusations against them, protestors are continuing their sit-ins and blocking roadways.
Following fruitful negotiations with Gwadar district local government representatives, the forum announced the cancellation of their sit-in on Thursday night. Both the protesters’ representative, Dr. Mahrang Baloch, and the district’s deputy commissioner signed the agreement.
In exchange for the demonstrators dispersing peacefully, the authorities agreed to remove all barriers, open all highways to traffic, and free all those who had been arrested.

The demonstrators’ convoys seeking the return of missing persons were prevented from attending the BYC meeting in Gwadar, which sparked the start of the sit-in.
A Pakistan Army soldier was killed and fourteen others were injured as protesters in Mastung, who were traveling to the seaside city to attend the BYC convention, were scattered.
