According to a statement, Louis O’Regan passed away as a result of “injuries sustained… during the opening qualifying session of the 2024 event”.
Living in Didcot, Oxfordshire, the 43-year-old Irishman was described as a “experienced competitor” at the race, having made his debut at the Newcomers A Race in 2013.
In the 2019 Junior Race, he had a personal best lap time of 114.7 mph.
“Great sadness” and “condolences to Louis’s partner Sarah, his family, loved ones, and friends” were conveyed by the organizers in the statement.
The collision occurred on Sunday at Kate’s Cottage, around thirty miles into the 37-mile race around the Isle of Man.
The collision resulted in the implementation of road closures.
The competition will get back up on Monday at 6.30 p.m. and run through the following Monday.
Iain Bainbridge, 69, passed away during his second qualifying session at the event the previous year. The father of two from County Durham made his race debut in 2005 and was a frequent competitor as well.
