Why it’s important to continue fighting for women’s rights in higher education.

This month, Sweet Briar College announced that it will only accept female applicants for admission.

This was a groundbreaking moment of confidence for women at the women’s college, which up until 2024 saw no need to establish gender requirements for admission to their blatantly homophobic institution.

The board of directors of Sweet Briar said that they had a duty to construe its founder’s instructions as they were understood at the time of writing because she expressly requested in her will that a college for “girls and young women” be established.

Although gender ideology campaigners were understandably incensed by the college’s courageous and honest stance, the board is delighted that they have truly adhered to their founder’s intentions by upholding the college’s governing documents.

My own organization, Kappa Kappa Gamma, isn’t just letting guys into our private lives and shattering our sisterhood, either. In addition, they are supporting it—in fact, demanding it—contrary to what the ladies in our sorority want.

I was an active member of “Kappa” and a sophomore at the University of Wyoming in 2022 when my friends and I learned that a man named Artemis Langford had been invited to join our sorority. This bid was made at the insistence of our national headquarters, which was fixated on increasing the diversity of our membership, despite the strong opposition it faced from the majority of our chapter.
