Despite their unmarried status, she is exempt from Senate regulations requiring her to reveal her partner’s financial information.
“There is a serious conflict of interest here that needs to be looked into further. Sen. Baldwin’s partner, Maria Brisbane, advises the ultra-wealthy on sectors that Baldwin regulates. The people of Wisconsin demand transparency, thus Sen. Baldwin should promptly reveal her partner’s assets and client list, according to a recent statement from a representative for Republican Senate candidate Eric Hovde.
Baldwin has been dating Brisbane since 2018. Brisbane is employed by the Brisbane Group, a wealth management group that is a division of Morgan Stanley, as a private financial adviser.
According to Morgan Stanley’s conduct code, “Examples of confidential information include the identity of our clients, Firm and client trading activities and securities holdings, acquisition, divestiture and tender offer plans, supervisory activities of the Firm’s regulators and Personally Identifiable Information relating to clients and employees.”
In the heated Wisconsin Senate contest, the Fix Washington PAC, which is endorsing Hovde, just released an advertisement featuring Brisbane and Baldwin, their shared home, and Brisbane’s clientele.
