The “role” of Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), on the constitutional change was praised by former president Arif Alvi.
Rehman was met by Alvi in Islamabad, whereupon the sources revealed that Alvi thanked the JUI-F leader for not endorsing the constitutional change. He remarked, “You have contributed in a positive and historic way to the constitutional amendment.”
The PTI and JUI-F had decided to develop a cooperative plan for the proposed constitutional reform. On the national concerns, both parties had committed to opposing in a “effective” manner.
