The 33-year-old Ugandan woman passed only a few days after her ex-boyfriend doused her in gasoline and set her home in the western Kenyan county of Trans Nzoia on fire.
This is not a unique instance. One of the worst incidences of violence against women in Africa is seen in Kenya.
According to media sources, more than ten women in the nation were killed in January alone due to femicide, which is defined by the UN as the killing of women for gender-related reasons.
Jane, who is not using her own name, tells the news that she has spent the majority of the year hiding.
She claims that her ex-partner gave her life-altering injuries after a vicious stabbing, making it impossible for her to return to work.
“His goal was to murder me.” After stabbing me, he abandoned me. I would be dead if it weren’t for the neighbours, remembers Jane.
Before leaving, she claims to have experienced decades of abuse that got worse. She claims that the moment he began acting aggressively toward the kids was her breaking point.
