With the TV show returning for a new series on Tuesday, the so-called “fake heiress” who conned Manhattan’s elite out of enormous sums of money took to the dance floor.
To finance her extravagant lifestyle, Sorokin scammed banks and prominent New York City figures out of over $67 million (£61 million). She was subsequently imprisoned for her crimes.
Prison did not lessen her notoriety, either, as the Netflix series Inventing Anna made its premiere on the platform while she was incarcerated.
She is now back in the spotlight after leaving prison to compete on Dancing With the Stars.
After the premiere, Sorokin said of the ankle monitor, “It’s actually not a big issue at all.”
“I asked them to make it tight so it doesn’t dangle, but it’s rather light. So all is not lost.”
“I’m glad it’s over,” she remarked following her routine. Although I think my dance should have been a little bit better, I’m still glad I did it because it was a fantastic experience overall.
