About two hours into the journey, the aircraft was en route from Burgas to Liverpool when an emergency was announced.
After making a quick descent to Germany, the Jet2 737-800 aircraft made a safe landing.
According to flight monitoring services, the aircraft made an unforeseen arrival in Cologne on September 16 at around 2:30 pm, and it then proceeded to Liverpool at around 10:20 pm that same day.
The deceased man’s identity remains unknown. The pilots requested a diversion after determining that the male passenger was experiencing a cardiac arrest, according to the aviation website Airlive.
According to Airlive, he received care from two passengers with medical training as well as staff members, but he did not survive.
“We can confirm that flight LS3214 from Bourgas to Liverpool John Lennon diverted to Cologne on Monday, September 16, due to a customer requiring medical assistance,” a Jet2.com spokeswoman said in a statement.
With great sadness, we must announce that the customer has died away. We would like to offer the customer’s family and friends our sincere condolences during this extremely trying time.
