Entertainment was sued by OMG Girlz for its LOL Surprise! OMG dolls, claiming that the business had imitated their style and trademark.
Tuesday marked the group’s ultimate victory in the protracted intellectual property lawsuit, as a California jury concluded they had been deceived.

It found that its “trade dress” and “name, likeness, and identity” had been violated, and it granted $17.9 million (£13.3 million) in actual damages and $53.6 million (£39.9 million) in punitive damages.
Zonnique Pullins, Bahja Rodriguez, and Breaunna Womack, the three members of the group, as well as Pullins’ mother Tameka “Tiny Harris” and stepfather Chris T.I. Harris, receive the settlement.

OMG Girlz, a group that was founded in 2009 and has 232,000 Instagram followers, used social media to celebrate their victory.

The first trial started in January 2023 when counterclaims were submitted, but it was ultimately ruled a mistrial.

The toy company prevailed in a second trial, but OMG Girlz prevailed on appeal and forced a third trial.

Each time, MGA Entertainment vehemently refuted the allegations.

According to reports, the doll’s attorney told the court during closing arguments that the assertion was “baseless and offensive” and that more than 40 million of the dolls had been sold without any confusion on the part of the buyers.
