Following Babar Azam’s departure, Pakistan’s wicket-keeping batsman, Muhammad Rizwan, is reportedly seen as a serious contender to take charge of the national cricket team.
According to sources, Rizwan has been consulted during choosing the team by PCB officials.
The 29-year-old batter said on X, “By stepping down, I will gain clarity moving forward and focus more energy on my game and personal growth.”
One of Kirsten’s tactics was to name a new T20 format captain, which he had suggested doing back in July.
Sources claim that Kirsten traveled to Pakistan in July for talks and to deliver a report on the T20 World Cup. He also had a meeting with Babar to talk about captaincy matters at that period.
