On Tuesday, a two-member panel of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) prohibited Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri from carrying out his official duties until the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) rendered a ruling on a case that was still pending against him.
The IHC’s divisional bench, consisting of Justice Mohammad Azam Khan and Chief Justice (CJ) Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar, declared its decision in a petition submitted by Mian Dawood.
Regarding the maintainability of the plea, the two-member bench requested the aid of Attorney General for Pakistan (AGP) Mansoor Awan. Attorneys Ashtar Ausaf and Barrister Zafarullah Khan were also named amici curiae by the court.
Following the ruling, the IHC issued a revised duty roster for September 17 to 19, excluding Justice Jahangiri from all benches.
