A day after demonstrations calling for more autonomy for the Himalayan region of occupied Ladakh turned deadly when security forces opened fire, Indian police patrolled the northern city of Leh on Thursday.
About 100 individuals, including 30 police officers, were injured, and at least five people were killed.
With police in riot gear on guard and coils of razor wire blocking most major roadways, the normally tourist-heavy city looked desolate, according to an AFP correspondent.
