ISLAMABAD According to a Wednesday story in The News, the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has officially set an annual tuition cost maximum of Rs1.89 million for MBBS and BDS programs for the 2025–2026 academic year.
Private medical and dental schools that charge more than the authorized amount risk severe consequences from the PMDC, such as accreditation suspension and legal action.
The PMDC said in a notification on October 6 that the base tuition cost for the MBBS and BDS programs will stay at Rs1.8 million, with a 5% rise allowed for the 2025–2026 academic year.
As suggested by the Prime Minister-appointed Medical Education Committee, further yearly hikes will be tied to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation rate beginning in the 2026–2027 session.
