Norris is 52 points behind Verstappen going into this weekend’s United States Grand Prix, the first of the season’s last six races.
Four weeks earlier, Verstappen finished second in the last race in Singapore, which was won by Briton Norris.
According to Norris, “it has been a successful season despite the fact that we are competing against the best of the best.”
Verstappen and Norris are separated by an average of over nine points per race, which is greater than the difference between first and second.
Four races ago, after the Belgian Grand Prix, it was down 78 points.
Although he admitted that he and the team had made certain blunders that prevented them from closing the deficit more quickly, Norris claimed that McLaren’s perspective altered when he won his first Formula One race in Miami in early May.
Silverstone is perhaps the primary race that didn’t go our way when it ought to have,” he remarked. “There are races that we kind of regret not winning.” And we reflect on that with some remorse that we weren’t in a better position in the end.
