In a dramatic security operation on Monday, Cadet College Wana in South Waziristan came under attack by terrorists linked to the Indian-backed group Fitna al-Khwarij. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), two attackers were neutralized while three remain cornered inside the college premises.
The assailants attempted a forceful breach using an explosive-laden vehicle, damaging the main gate and nearby structures. The swift and determined response of Pakistani security forces prevented a potential massacre.
ISPR confirmed that clearance operations are ongoing to eliminate the remaining attackers. The military reaffirmed its commitment to counterterrorism under the national initiative “Azm-e-Istehkam,” aiming to eradicate foreign-sponsored terrorism in Pakistan.
Terrorism in Pakistan has surged, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan, following the Afghan Taliban’s takeover in 2021. Over 600 terror incidents were reported in KP alone during the first eight months of 2025, resulting in at least 138 civilian and 79 police deaths.
Cross-border attacks have also heightened tensions, prompting retaliatory strikes along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. In October, Pakistan targeted Taliban positions, killing over 200 militants, while losing 23 soldiers. Following these clashes, both sides agreed to a ceasefire.
Pakistan continues to urge the Afghan Taliban regime to prevent its territory from being used as a base for attacks, maintaining vigilance against threats to national security.
