A Turkish Air Force C-130 transport plane crashed in Georgia on Tuesday shortly after departing from Azerbaijan. The incident has triggered an immediate search and rescue mission, with teams rushing toward the crash location near the Georgia–Azerbaijan border.

defenseTürkiye’s defence ministry confirmed the accident and said it is working closely with Georgian officials to access the site.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was informed of the crash while delivering a speech in Ankara. Sharing his grief, he offered prayers for the personnel on board, referring to them as “our martyrs.”

No details have been released about what caused the crash or how many people were on the aircraft. However, local reports suggest that both Turkish and Azerbaijani crew members were onboard.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya also spoke with Georgia’s interior minister, who is already heading to the crash area to monitor rescue operations.
