A motorcyclist who unknowingly transported a suicide bomber to Islamabad’s District Judicial Complex has been taken into custody, according to police sources. The deadly explosion, which struck the G-11 kachehri area, claimed 12 lives and left at least 36 others injured, including lawyers and petitioners.
Authorities revealed that the bomber paid the rider Rs200 for the trip from Golra to G-11, posing as an ordinary passenger. Security officials are now using Safe City cameras to trace the attacker’s full route from Pirwadhai to the blast site, as investigators piece together the timeline leading up to the deadly attack.
The incident came just a day after a militant infiltration at Wana Cadet College in South Waziristan, where security forces conducted a swift and successful operation, rescuing students and staff while neutralizing the assailants.
In the aftermath of both attacks, Punjab Police has placed the province on high alert, tightening security around courts, judges’ residences, and sensitive installations. Punjab Inspector General Usman Anwar stated that comprehensive security audits of judicial complexes, Chinese projects, and key residential zones have been completed.
To prevent future incidents, authorities have introduced a vehicle sticker system for court premises and launched daily search-and-sweep operations along judges’ routes. The IGP assured that foolproof security measures are in place to safeguard judicial personnel and sensitive sites across the province.
