Visitors may wish they could wear the tactile interiors created when fashion designers pour their imagination into their homes. According to Australian photographer, author, and filmmaker Robyn Lea, “you walk into those spaces and it just blows your mind,” as she tells news. This month saw the release of Lea’s most recent photo book, This Creative Life: Fashion Designers at Home, which showcases a runway of eighteen residences owned by top fashion designers.
Lea’s interest in the motivation behind design is what inspired the book. “I’m fascinated with the genesis of the creative spirit, and where that comes from.
and the need for someone to create, she argues. “The synergy between the fashion design and the interiors, and how they really are one visual language” is what she describes as the subject of the piece. These fashion designers live in their creations rather than only wearing them. They don’t perceive any distinction,” Lea continues. They consider their dwellings and the clothes they wear to be “one and the same thing.” These are eight of the book’s interiors.
