RAWALPINDI: In a new case in Toshakhana, a special court of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has postponed rendering a decision on the acquittal requests of Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), and his wife, Bushra Bibi.
The former prime minister and first lady was accused of abusing her position of authority to obtain gifts from the state. Special Judge Central Shahrukh Arjumand presided over the hearing, which was held at a temporary court at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail.
In accordance with the Supreme Court’s decision to reinstate modifications to the anti-corruption rules, the case—which had previously been heard by the accountability court of the anti-corruption watchdog—was moved to the FIA.
In today’s session, attorneys wrapped up their arguments about Khan and Bushra’s pleas of acquittal. The court then postponed rendering a decision.
