LONDON: According to British Foreign Secretary David Lammy, Pakistani authorities have not recently indicated that they plan to hold a military court trial for Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former prime minister.

This was stated by the UK Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Affairs in his reply to a letter sent to the British government by Kim Johnson MP at the behest of Khan’s international affairs adviser Zulfi Bukhari.

Lammy MP stated: “I have expressed concerns on the possibility of trying civilians, such as Imran Khan, in military courts. It may be challenging to evaluate adherence to international norms in these courts due to their lack of independence and transparency.
