LONDON: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s “final call” for protest on the 24th of this month will not be able to halt the nation’s advancement, according to former prime minister and current president of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Nawaz Sharif.
Before leaving for Pakistan on Saturday with his daughter, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, and his grandson, Junaid Safdar, he gave a brief interview to the media in London.
Nawaz spent time with family in Geneva before departing for his flights to the US and the UK on October 26. Earlier this month, Maryam also traveled to Geneva for medical care.
When a journalist questioned the PML-N president if the PTI’s protest call was intended to sabotage Pakistan’s economic progress, he discounted the movement’s chances.
