Following a Supreme Court order, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) administration has formally eliminated quota-based hiring practices in the province.
All government agencies have received a communication from Chief Secretary KP indicating that all upcoming hiring will be done on an open merit basis.
The KP administration has emphasized that any appointments made without merit will be declared unlawful, with this decision coming after the Supreme Court’s decision against the practice of quota appointments.
Compensation packages for the families of law enforcement officers and civil servants who were martyred in terrorist attacks, however, would be unaffected by the new policy.
The Punjab government has also amended the Punjab Civil Servants Act of 1974 in a parallel move, notably eliminating Rule 17-A.
