According to sources cited by Indian media on Saturday, KV Subramanian, executive director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), was fired by India’s Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, six months before the end of his three-year term.
The Indian government has not disclosed the reasons behind Subramanian’s dismissal, but according to the sources, a replacement will be nominated to the IMF board soon.
They stated that the order issued by the appointments committee will take effect on April 30.
According to the sources, Subramanian allegedly questioned the IMF’s numbers, which upset the top brass of the global organization.
