The second round of negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program between the United States, and Iran, concluded in Geneva, Switzerland.
Abbas Araqchi, Iran’s foreign minister, stated that the two countries had reached an agreement on their main principles. US officials have not yet provided an official statement.
Oman mediated the indirect discussions. Washington had repeatedly threatened military action in response to Iran’s crackdown against anti-government demonstrations and its nuclear program.
US President Signals Interest in Negotiation
“I hope they will be more reasonable.” He described the discussions as being important, and confirmed that he will participate in an indirect manner.

The US military has increased their presence in the area amid negotiations. Satellite images confirmed that the USS Abraham Lincoln is located near Iran.

Iran’s Nuclear Issues and Sanctions are the Focus
Iran stated that its focus in the talks will be on nuclear programmes and possible lifting of US sanctions.
In Geneva, Foreign Minister Araqchi met the UN chief nuclear monitor and reiterated Iran’s position: “What we don’t want to see is submission in the face of threats.”
