This month, Kei Kamara became one of the only Africans to play football for their country after turning forty.
The attacker came out of retirement in an unsuccessful attempt to assist his country qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) in Morocco next year. He is second on the all-time goalscoring lists for both Sierra Leone and the US Major League Soccer (MLS).
Kamara will not be able to play on the largest platform in the African game as a 41-year-old veteran, but other continental giants, including the man who sparked Kamara’s comeback, have managed to leave their mark after turning 50.
