Does Arkansas possess the same magic as Paris? It seems that one man thinks the answer is “yes.”
Paris, France resident Julien Navas struck it lucky earlier this month when he discovered a 7.46-carat diamond at the Arkansas Crater of Diamonds State Park.
“The park is a fantastic location where discovering a diamond can become a reality! According to Arkansas State Parks, the Parisian remarked, “It was a really amazing adventure.”

Navas had been touring the United States.
He left for New Orleans and stopped in Cape Canaveral, Florida, to witness a rocket launch.
Navas became interested in the Crater of Diamonds State Park after learning about it while he was in the Big Easy.
Arkansas State Parks officials stated in a press release that the park “piqued his interest because he had previously panned for gold and searched for ammonite fossils.”
“So he knew he had to visit the park while he was in the U.S.”

After buying a diamond hunting kit from the park on January 11, Navas set out on his quest to find gems.
“I got to the park around 9:00 and started to dig,” Navas stated. “That is back-breaking work, so by the afternoon I was mainly looking on top of the ground for anything that stood out.”
When he took his finds to the Diamond Discovery Center at the park after several hours, he discovered that he was holding a 7.46 carat brown diamond.
“I’m overjoyed! Telling my fiancée what I found is all I can think about,” Navas said to park rangers.
