The head of the opposition alliance Tahreek-e-Tahafuz Aain Pakistan and the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, warned on Wednesday to intensify their opposition to Operation Azm-e-Istehkam by filing an appeal with the International Court of Justice, if needed.
Achakzai emphasized the significance of political decisions representing the genuine will of the people during a Peshawar jirga organized by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). He asserts that this criterion is not being followed at the moment. He noted that the constitutional reform that would have combined FATA with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) had not been on the official agenda during the legislative session.
Achakzai emphasized how peace may boost tourism in the area by highlighting K-P’s importance as a Buddhist center and its friendly locals, who could draw travelers from around the world. He also emphasized Pakistan’s historical overuse of its natural resources, citing the country’s enormous railway network, Mohmand marble, and Waziristan’s mineral-rich territory. He urged President Zardari to see to it that the local residents get the rewards of these resources.
