SYDNEY: Australia named an unchanged lineup for David Warner’s final Test match against Pakistan at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Tuesday, choosing not to use a second spinner.
Following a tight 79-run victory to seal the three-match series, captain Pat Cummins gave his assurance that Australia’s fast-bowling trio had recovered well from the second Test in Melbourne, which took place four days earlier.
Pakistan has altered two things. Saim Ayub, making his Test debut, will begin the innings in place of Imam-Ul-Haq. Off-spinner Sajid Khan has been selected to bowl instead of senior fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi.
“After a game like the MCG, you always need to consider the wider picture. Shan Masood, the captain of Pakistan, stated on Tuesday, “We’ve learned the lessons, or at least we’ve put ourselves in those positions from where we could compete in or dominate games.”
“It’s now about not repeating mistakes, and if we can put in similar efforts to the one in Melbourne, we’ll be winning a lot of Tests.”
Although the SCG is known for taking turns, Cummins stated that the hosts did not think to include a second spinner to complement Nathan Lyon.
On the eve of Pakistan’s last Test match of their tour of Australia, which also happens to be opener Warner’s 112th and final Test, the surface appeared well-grassed.
“It looks like a pretty nice day for the weather.”Prior to the Test, which begins on Wednesday, Cummins stated, “The weather looks pretty good this week and that’s not always the case in Sydney.”
“The groundskeeper appears content with its current state. There appears to be a fair amount of grass covering, so the coming week should be enjoyable.”
Rain has historically affected the Sydney Test, with 26 washed-out days—more than any other Australian Test site. However, this week’s chances of showers are just moderate.
