After a convincing nine-wicket victory over Namibia, Australia advanced to the Super 8s, with England and Scotland vying for second place.
Even in that scenario, the winner could be determined by net run-rate, as Jos Buttler’s team still needs to defeat Namibia and Oman to advance.
This means that Australia, who play Scotland on Sunday, might play a significant part in deciding who else advances from Group B.
With Richie Berrington’s team now possessing a vastly better net run-rate against England, even a close victory would put Scotland through and eliminate England.
“Yeah, I think so,” Hazlewood responded when asked if Australia would attempt to make things as difficult as possible for England.
“England is one of the top teams in the world on any given day, therefore you might face them again during this event.
“We’ve had some real struggles against them in T20 cricket so if we can get them out of the tournament that’s in our best interest, as well as probably everyone else’s.”
