At 3:50 p.m. on Friday, crews were alerted to an incident on the Newtown bypass in Powys.
According to Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, a large cargo lorry carrying ordinary recycling rubbish was engaged in the incident.
According to the service, improper disposal of vape pens is suspected of starting the incident.
After the fire was put out, some of them were discovered amid the 13 tonnes of mixed recycling that were taken from the trailer of the car.
The service claims that if they hadn’t been destroyed and crushed, the remaining trash would have caught fire.
The car’s contents spilled onto the bypass, forcing the closure of the route.
On Saturday at 12.27 a.m., the fire crews departed the area.
Attendees included Natural Resources Wales, Dyfed-Powys Police, and Powys County Council.
The number of battery fires in garbage lorries and at UK waste facilities has reached its greatest level, according to research from the National Fire Chiefs Council and Recycle Your Electricals. The figure increased by 71% from 700 in 2022 to more than 1,200 in the most recent year.
