Finland’s Patten and Harri Heliovaara overcame a set down to defeat Marcelo Arevalo of El Salvador and Mate Pavic of Croatia 4-6 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (10-7).
Together with Dutchman Wesley Koolhof, Skupski won the title last year. Venus, who typically plays with Jamie Murray, has gotten along well with Skupski.
Skupski and Venus continued their winning ways after winning the warm-up competitions at Queen’s and Eastbourne.
Patten, on the other hand, advanced to the last stages of a Grand Slam for the first time after eliminating the fourth seed with Heliovaara.
In the mixed doubles, American combo Rajeev Ram and Katie Volynets were defeated 2-6 6-3 11-9 by British pair Marcus Willis and Alicia Barnett, securing their spot in the quarterfinals.
