LONDON: For his charitable contributions in the United Kingdom and South Asia, namely Pakistan, British-Pakistani entrepreneur and philanthropist Asif Rangoonwala has been named a Commander of the British Empire (CBE) by King Charles III.
The prestigious honor was bestowed upon Rangoonwala, a vice chair of the King’s charity, the British Asian Trust (BAT), following her recognition for her charitable and philanthropic contributions in the King’s Birthday Honours list 2024.
The philanthropist expressed her humility and heartfelt honor at being recognized in this way. I’ll work to further our goal of making the world more compassionate and egalitarian.”
In an interview with the News, Rangoonwala expressed gratitude to his coworkers for their support throughout the years, adding, “My parents left me with a heritage of public service because they were dedicated individuals.
“We operate in many sectors of Karachi, but our work in the field of education is extraordinary, benefiting tens of thousands of impoverished children through our programs. We intend to broaden the range and character of our activities.”
The businessman stated to the News that more British Pakistanis should receive honors and recognition.
“We are one of the most integrated communities in the United Kingdom and we are essential to all facets of public life,” he declared. Our goal is to highlight more heroes and positive role models from inside our communities.
“There are hundreds of Pakistanis in the UK doing a magnificent job and they deserve more recognition.”
