Identical Twin with Leukaemia Given Six Months to Live Shares Heartbreaking Bond With Sister A 24-year-old woman from Cardiff, Caitlin Leggett, has been told she may have just six months to live after her acute myeloid leukaemia returned. She says the idea of leaving her identical twin sister behind feels impossible. Caitlin was first diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), a fast-moving cancer of the white blood cells, in April 2025. The only early sign was a stubborn rash that did not improve with treatment. After starting chemotherapy, she went into remission. Doctors later performed a stem cell transplant, hoping it would offer a long-term cure. Cancer Returns After Initial Remission In May, Caitlin was told she was in remission. However, by August, the disease had returned and appeared again on her skin. Doctors advised that further treatment in the UK was unlikely to fully cure her condition. She is now exploring treatment options abroad, most likely in the United States. The cost could reach around £500,000, placing a heavy financial burden on her family. A Strong Bond Between Identical Twins Caitlin’s sister, Grace, has remained by her side throughout the illness. The twins say their bond has made the situation even more painful. Grace said they are both only 24 and never imagined facing something like this so early in life. Caitlin also shared that growing up and living life together makes the thought of separation unbearable. The sisters studied together at university and have always been extremely close. Unexpected Medical Discovery During Caitlin’s treatment, doctors discovered that the sisters are actually identical twins. They were previously believed to be fraternal twins because they developed in separate amniotic sacs. Genetic testing later confirmed that their markers were identical. This discovery also affected treatment plans, as Grace could no longer act as a stem cell donor due to their nearly identical DNA profile. Early Symptoms and Diagnosis Journey Before her diagnosis, Caitlin planned to join the Army as an intelligence officer after graduating in July 2024. In March 2025, she developed a rash that did not respond to pharmacy creams. Blood tests soon followed, and she was referred to a specialist cancer unit in Cardiff. There, she received confirmation that she had AML and began urgent treatment. Treatment Trials and Hope for Remission While waiting for a suitable donor, Caitlin underwent chemotherapy and achieved remission within two months. Later, she joined a clinical trial in Manchester using menin inhibitors. The treatment successfully brought her into complete remission before she underwent another planned stem cell transplant. Despite setbacks, Caitlin continues to pursue treatment options in hopes of extending her life.

Home Lost in Belfast Fire as Resident Says He Will “Never Get Over” Watching It Burn Residents flee after overnight violence in east Belfast Families in Belfast were forced to leave their homes during a night of unrest that followed a knife attack on Monday. Several houses across the city were damaged after fires broke out during the disorder. Among those affected was a family with a two month old baby, who had to escape as the situation escalated. East Belfast home destroyed in blaze A man from Lendrick Street in east Belfast said he lost the house he had lived in for 13 years after it was set on fire during the chaos. He said the fire began after a nearby car, linked to foreign nationals, was ignited. The flames then spread quickly, leaving little time for firefighters to save the property. By the time emergency crews arrived, the house was already fully burning and could not be saved. “I’ll never get over it,” says homeowner Speaking outside the remains of his home, the man said the experience left him devastated. He described the moment he watched the house burn as something he would carry with him for life. He said the property held many personal and sentimental items that cannot be replaced. Although he expressed anger about the wider violence, he questioned what the destruction had achieved and said it only harmed the local community further. Community impact and ongoing concern The unrest has left several families displaced and facing major losses. While no one from the affected household was injured, the emotional and financial damage is severe. The resident said he was relieved his children were not inside the house at the time of the fire.

Rising Costs in the Chip Industry TSMC, the world’s largest advanced chip manufacturer, says rising inflation is pushing up its production costs. The company has not confirmed sharp price increases, but it has not ruled them out either. Chief financial officer Wendell Huang said prices will not jump suddenly. He added that the company prices its products based on value, supported by strong technology leadership and high end manufacturing capabilities. TSMC supplies advanced chips used by companies like Nvidia, AMD, and Apple. Any change in pricing could affect the wider artificial intelligence supply chain and eventually consumer electronics. AI Growth and Bubble Debate Huang rejected the idea that the artificial intelligence boom is a bubble. He said demand for advanced chips remains strong and driven by real industrial needs. The company sees AI expansion as a long term trend rather than a short term surge. This view supports continued investment in production capacity and global expansion. Global Expansion and Geopolitical Pressure TSMC is expanding its manufacturing footprint in the United States, Germany, and Japan while keeping major operations in Taiwan. Huang said these decisions are driven mainly by customer demand rather than political pressure. He explained that global clients want local production options to improve supply stability. However, the most advanced chip production will stay in Taiwan for now. Moving the full ecosystem elsewhere would take five to ten years or more. US China Tech Tensions The chip industry remains central in growing tensions between the United States and China. Washington is pushing key manufacturers to strengthen supply chains through overseas expansion. Taiwan produces most of the world’s advanced semiconductors, making it a critical point in global technology competition. Leaders have warned that poor handling of Taiwan related issues could create serious geopolitical risks. Price Outlook and Company Position While Huang avoided confirming price increases, he acknowledged that inflation is raising operating costs. TSMC leadership has also expressed interest in adjusting prices where needed. The company says it will continue balancing cost pressures with its long term strategy of maintaining high end chip production leadership.

    ## Air India Crash Pilot’s Father Vows to Defend Son’s Reputation The father of Capt Sumeet Sabharwal, one of the pilots who died in the Air India Flight 171 crash, has promised to continue defending his son's reputation as investigators prepare to release another update on the tragedy. Pushkar Raj Sabharwal said he remains determined to protect his son's name from speculation and unverified claims. "My son is no longer here, but I must defend his reputation," he said. ## Family Faces Painful Speculation Capt Sumeet Sabharwal served as the senior pilot on Air India Flight 171. The London-bound Boeing 787 Dreamliner crashed just seconds after taking off from Ahmedabad on June 12, 2025. The disaster claimed at least 260 lives, including 241 passengers and crew members on board. It became one of India's deadliest aviation accidents in recent years. Since the crash, the Sabharwal family has faced intense public attention. Media reports and online discussions have added to their grief while the investigation remains unfinished. ## Investigation Continues Without Final Conclusion Authorities have not yet determined the exact cause of the crash. A preliminary investigation report revealed that the fuel control switches for both engines moved from the "run" position to the "cut-off" position shortly after take-off. As a result, both engines lost fuel supply during a critical stage of the flight. Cockpit recordings captured a conversation between the two pilots. One pilot questioned why the fuel had been cut off, while the other denied taking that action. Investigators did not identify which pilot made either statement. They also found no evidence that either pilot intentionally caused the incident. ## Reports Shifted Attention Toward Senior Pilot Several international media reports later suggested that investigators were paying closer attention to Capt Sabharwal's role in the cockpit. According to those reports, cockpit audio recordings appeared to support the theory that the captain may have cut fuel flow to the engines. However, officials have not confirmed those claims. Pilot associations across India strongly rejected the speculation. Industry groups argued that media outlets should avoid drawing conclusions before investigators complete their work. ## Authorities Urge Caution India's Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau criticized selective and unverified reporting surrounding the crash. The agency warned that premature conclusions could mislead the public and undermine the investigation process. Officials stressed that investigators had not assigned blame to either pilot. Capt Sabharwal's father later approached India's Supreme Court and requested an independent investigation into all possible causes of the accident. During proceedings, the court noted that the preliminary findings did not place responsibility on the senior pilot. The judges stated that no evidence in the initial report suggested fault on his part. ## Family Awaits Final Answers As investigators continue their work, the Sabharwal family hopes the final report will provide clear answers about what happened that day. For Pushkar Raj Sabharwal, the goal remains simple. He wants the public to remember his son as a respected professional pilot and wait for verified facts before making judgments. The upcoming investigation update may provide new insights into one of the most tragic aviation disasters in recent history.

    # FIFA World Cup 2026 Expected to Become the Biggest Betting Event in History ## Global Betting Volume Could Cross $50 Billion The 2026 FIFA Men's World Cup is expected to become the biggest betting event ever recorded. Industry forecasts suggest that people around the world could place more than **$50 billion** in bets during the tournament. Financial experts estimate that each match may attract nearly **$500 million** in wagers. If those predictions prove accurate, the total betting volume will significantly exceed the estimated **$35 billion** recorded during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. ## Expanded Tournament Set to Drive Betting Growth One of the biggest reasons behind the expected increase is the expansion of the tournament from **32 teams to 48 teams**. The larger format means fans will enjoy more than **100 matches** across six weeks instead of the previous 64-game schedule. More games naturally create more betting opportunities. At the same time, the tournament's location in the United States, Canada, and Mexico offers favorable viewing times for audiences across Europe, Latin America, and Africa. That wider accessibility could further boost betting activity worldwide. ## US Sports Betting Market Continues to Expand The growing legalization of sports betting in the United States is another major factor behind the projected surge. Today, around **65% of the US population** can legally place sports bets, compared with roughly **40% during the 2022 World Cup**. This marks the first FIFA World Cup where a majority of Americans have legal access to sports betting platforms. Industry analysts believe betting companies could see substantial revenue during the event. However, they also warn that converting occasional World Cup bettors into long-term customers remains a significant challenge. ## Gambling Awareness Groups Raise Serious Concerns While betting companies expect strong business, gambling awareness organizations have expressed concern about the social impact. Campaigners warn that many people, especially young men, could experience serious financial problems because of excessive gambling during the tournament. They also argue that most long-term sports bettors lose money and may eventually be encouraged to use more addictive casino-style products. Several reform advocates have urged governments to strengthen consumer protections and introduce stricter measures against harmful gambling practices. ## Regulators Eye Stronger Oversight Regulatory authorities in the United States are also reviewing online betting markets. Officials have announced plans to consider updated rules as online betting and trading continue to expand rapidly. The proposed changes aim to improve oversight and respond to the growing popularity of digital wagering platforms. ## Looking Ahead The 2026 FIFA World Cup promises unforgettable football action and record-breaking fan engagement. At the same time, experts continue to debate the risks associated with the expected surge in global betting activity. As excitement builds for the tournament, responsible gambling and stronger consumer protections are likely to remain important topics alongside the action on the pitch.

    # Omar Artan Visa Denial Raises Fresh Concerns Before 2026 FIFA World Cup The 2026 FIFA World Cup was expected to shift attention back to football after the controversies surrounding previous tournaments. However, a new incident involving one of FIFA's selected referees has sparked fresh debate just days before the competition begins. Somali referee Omar Artan, one of Africa's most respected match officials, has been denied entry into the United States despite holding valid travel documents and a visa. The decision has raised concerns about FIFA's ability to manage issues surrounding the tournament outside the stadiums. ## FIFA Referee Denied Entry to the United States Artan travelled to Miami to join the group of officials selected for the World Cup. According to reports, immigration officers questioned him for nearly 11 hours before sending him back to Somalia. The referee stated that he carried all the required documents and followed the correct visa process. Despite this, authorities refused him entry into the country. The incident has shocked many football observers because Artan was officially chosen by FIFA to participate in the tournament. ## A Historic Opportunity Lost Artan's selection marked a major achievement for Somali football. He was set to become the first referee from Somalia to officiate at a FIFA World Cup. His appointment followed several successful years at the highest level of African football. In 2025, he became the first Somali referee to oversee a continental club final. He also worked at major youth and senior international tournaments, earning recognition for his performances. For Artan, the World Cup represented the highest point of his career. Instead of making history on football's biggest stage, he now finds himself returning home. ## Growing Concerns Around the 2026 World Cup The referee's case has intensified concerns surrounding the tournament's organization. Supporters and football officials have already expressed worries about strict immigration procedures, expensive ticket prices, accommodation costs, and transportation expenses. Some groups have also questioned how immigration enforcement could affect international fans travelling to matches. Critics argue that if a FIFA-appointed referee can face entry problems, ordinary supporters may encounter similar difficulties. ## FIFA Faces Difficult Questions The situation has placed FIFA under additional pressure. While the organization controls activities inside stadiums, immigration decisions remain under the authority of national governments. Many observers now question whether FIFA has enough influence to protect participants and visitors from unexpected travel issues. The case has also sparked wider discussions about fairness, transparency, and accessibility during one of the world's largest sporting events. ## Uncertainty Ahead of Kick-Off With the tournament only days away, the denial of entry to Omar Artan has become one of the biggest talking points surrounding the World Cup. The incident highlights the challenges FIFA faces while hosting a global event that depends on the smooth movement of players, officials, media representatives, and supporters. As teams prepare for the opening matches, questions remain about whether similar issues could affect others travelling to the tournament and what impact they may have on the overall success of the event.

Steven Spielberg returns to alien themed storytelling with Disclosure Day, a large scale film that explores government secrecy and extraterrestrial contact. Expectations were extremely high because of his long history with science fiction cinema. However, the final result has left many viewers disappointed. Critics describe the film as underdeveloped and lacking fresh ideas. Instead of delivering a powerful new vision, it feels familiar and predictable. Story and Plot Issues The story follows Daniel, a cybersecurity expert working for a powerful organization that hides evidence of alien life. He decides to expose the truth, but quickly becomes caught in a dangerous situation involving surveillance and pursuit. A second storyline focuses on Margaret, a weather presenter who suddenly gains the ability to understand multiple languages, including unknown ones. Her scenes bring some energy to the film, but they feel disconnected from the main plot. Much of the movie follows a chase driven structure where characters move from place to place while being tracked. This approach weakens tension because the audience is given little reason to care about the outcome. Characters and Performances Josh O’Connor plays Daniel, but the character lacks depth and clear motivation. Eve Hewson appears as Jane, yet her role is limited and mostly reactive. Emily Blunt delivers the strongest performance in the film. Her character Margaret brings moments of creativity and emotional interest. Many viewers feel her storyline could have worked better as the main focus of the film. Colin Firth plays Noah, the main antagonist. His performance feels misaligned with the role, which reduces the impact of the villain. The organization he leads also appears inconsistent, as it is meant to operate in secrecy yet functions like a large public institution. Criticism and Expectations Many viewers expected Spielberg to deliver a major science fiction milestone, similar to his earlier classics. Instead, Disclosure Day feels like a standard thriller with limited originality. The film does not introduce strong new ideas about extraterrestrial life. Instead, it repeats familiar themes without adding depth or innovation. Some scenes suggest potential, especially those involving Margaret, but the film does not fully develop them. As a result, the overall experience feels uneven and underwhelming.

Idris Elba on James Bond Casting and “Woke” Debate: Full Summary Idris Elba speaks on James Bond role and global audience reaction British actor Sir Idris Elba has shared his thoughts on the ongoing debate around the future of James Bond. He said the character should stay true to its original identity and warned against changing it in ways that could divide audiences. Elba also addressed long running speculation linking him to the role of 007, saying he has never been officially in the running, even though he feels flattered by the attention. He explained that James Bond has a specific legacy and tone, and that this should not be altered too much. According to him, the franchise is built on escapism, and changing its core identity to match modern debates could take away from what makes it popular worldwide. Elba comments on diversity and audience expectations Elba pointed out that global audiences react differently to casting choices. He suggested that some viewers may not accept a Black actor in the role of James Bond, especially in certain regions. While expressing this view, he emphasized that Bond is a fictional character and should remain consistent with how it was originally created. He also said that trying to adjust the character to fit every cultural expectation could weaken the story. Instead, he believes the focus should remain on maintaining the traditional style of the franchise. “Man at Arms” role and casting humor Elba is currently appearing in a new project where he plays Man at Arms from Masters of the Universe. He joked about the contrast between his real appearance and the animated character, noting that the role shows how flexible casting can be in fantasy worlds. He highlighted that fictional characters can be reimagined more freely than grounded roles like James Bond. James Bond franchise continues search for new actor The search for the next James Bond is officially underway after years of speculation following Daniel Craig’s departure in No Time To Die. Production insiders confirm that casting auditions are ongoing, although details remain private. The next Bond film will be directed by Denis Villeneuve and written by Steven Knight. Industry reports suggest casting director Nina Gold is leading the selection process. Several well known actors are rumored to be in consideration, including Callum Turner, Henry Cavill, and Aaron Taylor Johnson.

Indie Horror Films Outperform Hollywood Blockbusters, Shaking the Film Industry A surprising shift at the box office Two small budget horror films, Backrooms and Obsession, have taken the film world by surprise. Both movies have earned massive profits while big studio releases struggle to meet expectations. This unexpected outcome is forcing the industry to rethink what audiences want. Big studio films underperform Recent blockbuster releases like Masters of the Universe and The Mandalorian and Grogu were expected to dominate the box office. Instead, they delivered weaker results than projected. Masters of the Universe, based on a popular toy franchise, earned only modest returns during its opening. Meanwhile, The Mandalorian and Grogu continued to decline after its initial release. Both films failed to maintain strong audience interest over time. Indie horror becomes a breakout success In contrast, Backrooms and Obsession turned into unexpected hits. Both films were produced on very small budgets, yet they attracted large audiences. Backrooms, directed by a first time filmmaker and released by A24, created strong buzz with its unsettling story and minimalistic style. It earned over 135 million dollars in the US, showing strong audience demand for original horror concepts. Obsession, produced for under 1 million dollars, delivered even more surprising results. With no major star cast, it grew steadily at the box office instead of dropping after release. Its global earnings have crossed 225 million dollars, making it one of the most successful indie horror films in recent years. Why audiences are shifting Industry analysts point to changing viewer habits. Many younger audiences are showing less interest in recycled franchises and more interest in fresh, original stories. Horror films, in particular, offer a strong emotional experience that works well in cinemas. Low budgets also allow studios to take more creative risks. Even a single successful horror release can generate huge profits compared to expensive blockbusters. A turning point for Hollywood The strong performance of these indie films suggests a possible shift in the film industry. Studios may need to balance franchise driven projects with original storytelling if they want to stay competitive.

KARACHI: According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a 3.2-magnitude earthquake occurred in Karachi’s Malir neighborhood on Wednesday.

According to the Met Office, the earthquake was reported at 9:34 a.m. and had an epicenter about seven kilometers northwest of Malir at a depth of ten kilometers.

Thus far, there have been no reports of fatalities or property damage.

A 5.5-magnitude earthquake that rocked Islamabad and several parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa last week preceded the current tremors.

The area has been rocked by earthquakes a lot lately, particularly in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Records reveal earthquake activity in nearby nations that are situated where the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates converge.

Trump tariff refund program begins but consumers may miss compensation Refund program begins for importers The United States has started issuing refunds after the Supreme Court struck down tariffs introduced under the Trump administration in February. These tariffs were imposed under emergency trade powers and are now being reversed. Businesses that were charged these import duties can now apply online to recover their money, along with interest. The repayment effort is expected to become one of the largest refund operations ever handled. Online system processes billions in claims A dedicated online system has been launched to manage the process. It allows importers to submit claims in bulk instead of filing item by item, which speeds up processing. So far, tens of thousands of importers have already applied. The total value of claims is estimated in the tens of billions of dollars. Officials say approved applicants should receive payments within a few months after verification is complete. Why consumers will not receive payouts While importers are eligible for refunds, ordinary consumers are unlikely to see direct compensation. Many shoppers already paid higher prices when businesses passed on the cost of tariffs. Some companies argue they absorbed part of the costs, while others increased prices only partially. Because of this, it is difficult to calculate exact consumer losses. Government officials have also indicated that refunds are intended for importers, not individuals who indirectly paid higher prices. Legal pressure and consumer lawsuits Some consumers are taking legal action, arguing that companies should return any financial benefit they receive from tariff refunds. Several class action cases have already been filed against major retailers and logistics companies. These lawsuits claim that businesses should pass refund gains back to customers through lower prices or payments. A few large companies have suggested they may reduce prices if they receive significant refunds, but most have not committed to direct compensation. Government stance on redistribution Officials involved in trade policy have suggested that companies receiving refunds could instead use the money to support employees or improve wages.
