Before ending his playing career in 1997, former forward Cantona won two FA Cups and four Premier League championships with United.
When asked if there was a position for him at Old Trafford, the Frenchman replied that he did not have the time to be a coach in an interview with the Big Issue prior to the publication of his live music CD, Cantona Sings Eric, later this month.
“I am involved in too many things I really love to be a manager,” he stated.
“I strive to give everything I do my all in order to feel confident and to enjoy it.
I therefore lack the time to oversee. However, perhaps there is another factor.”
Last month, Ratcliffe paid £1.25 billion to purchase a 27.7% share in United, and Cantona is optimistic that the team can contend for big awards once more.
