Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F), has reaffirmed that “fake assemblies” are not acceptable, as the political-religious party prepares to expand its anti-government activity.
“Workers have once again given the message that fake assembly is not acceptable,” said Fazl, speaking at a large-scale public rally in Peshawar on Thursday.
The leader of JUI-F declared that “these governments are not the true representatives” of the people, claiming that the general elections of 2024 were more manipulated than the ones in 2018.
He continued, “We have brought the case of people’s self-respect.”
It is important to note that prior to the two former political rivals discovering a “ideological coordination” against the current PML-N-led coalition government, the JUI-F had also been branding the previous PTI-led administration as “fake.”
In October 2018, Fazl criticized the government led by Imran Khan at the time, stating that “fake” legislation enacted by a “fake parliament” had no legal standing.
“I spoke for the rights of Pashtuns and Baloch,” the JUI-F supremo declared during his speech at the open gathering.
“Decisions would be made in the field but not in the House [assembly],” he stated, referring to his party’s protest movement against the strict elections.
“This stage, not the assembly, is our representative.”
“Threats will not work,” the JUI-F leader emphasized, highlighting the importance of discussions.
He said that the movement will no longer be restricted to public gatherings and alluded to a “court arrest drive” by stating, “[We] will fill the jails if the matter goes towards jails.”
