People were advised not to eat Uncle Frog’s mushroom gummies in a series of public health alerts because of reports of customers “experiencing unexpected toxicity.”
The products in question include the brand’s Lion’s Mane and Cordyceps gummies.
Additional symptoms that have been recorded include anxiety, tiredness or loss of consciousness, racing heart, and seizure-like activity.
Authorities are currently investigating the precise nature of the products that may be causing people to become ill in light of the widespread hospitalizations.
A man in his teens was discovered “in an unresponsive state” earlier this month after consuming several gummies, according to the South Australian government.
It said that after receiving therapy, he has now recovered.
Hospitalizations have also been reported from other states, with five occurring in New South Wales.
We’re still looking into what’s in these products. Dr. Darren Roberts, the Medical Director of the NSW Poisons Information Centre, stated in a statement on Wednesday, “We are strongly recommending that people do not consume [them].”
The Byron Bay-based company Uncle Frog was previously advertised on its now-temporarily closed website as a provider of “specially formulated” gummies meant to “promote overall wellbeing.”
