ISLAMABAD According to sources cited by News, the federal government is considering doing away with the Saturday weekly vacation in order to reinstate the six-day workweek in government offices.
The sources stated that the five-day work week in government offices did not produce the anticipated results and that the Cabinet Division has requested proposals from all ministries that would be forwarded to the federal cabinet for the ultimate decision.
It is important to highlight that, as part of an energy conservation strategy, the federal cabinet approved two-day weekly holidays in government offices starting in 2022. This is significant because the nation is still experiencing a serious energy crisis, which typically peaks in the summer.
