ISLAMABAD: On Saturday, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) prevented law enforcement officials from detaining Sher Afzal Marwat, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), without obtaining the necessary authorization.
The Inspector General of Islamabad, the Inspector General of Punjab, the Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, and the Federal Investigation Agency have all received notices from the IHC regarding the appeal that the PTI parliamentarian filed.
The court has asked for specifics of the cases brought against Marwat as well as paragraph-by-paragraph comments on his petition from the pertinent authorities.
In response to the PTI leader’s request, Justice Saman Rafat Imtiaz issued a formal directive instructing not to detain the senior attorney in any situation without the court’s approval.
Through his attorneys Adil Aziz Qazi and Riasat Ali Azad, Marwat had submitted the plea.
