Tuesday’s tough and bitter Democratic and Republican primaries in Maryland, Nebraska, and West Virginia will set up some pivotal general election matchups that might determine the House and Senate majorities.
On May 14, the most notable primary will occur in Maryland, where Republicans are attempting to oust Democrats from a Senate seat that they have held for an extended period of time. Maryland is one of the bluest states in the country.
Among the more than six Republican contenders for the Senate nomination, well-liked former two-term governor Larry Hogan is seen as the clear favorite.
Sen. Steve Daines of Montana, the chair of the Senate Republican campaign committee, said to News Friday night, “We like where Larry’s at.”
