A politician was observed slapping a man in front of a group of partygoers.
Marwat claims, “My guard was telling me to sit in the car.”
The politician continues, “He was pushing workers away from me.”
PESHAWAR: Sher Afzal Marwat, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), is embroiled in a new controversy following the viral video of him striking a person during a party rally in Peshawar.
In the footage, the lawmaker can be seen getting stuck in the middle of a throng of partygoers and striking the victim.
The man was strolling behind the politician, who seemed enraged with him before Marwat hit him.
Clarifying the widely shared footage, the PTI politician said that the individual he smacked was his “personal guard” and that’s why he was in the video.
“My guard was telling me to sit in the car because of terrorism,” the politician added, announcing that he was shoving the workers away and preventing them from approaching me.
Marwat said, “I ordered the guard not to pull me.”
