Israeli air strikes across southern Lebanon have reportedly killed at least 17 people, according to Lebanese state media. The attacks hit several towns and villages as tensions with Hezbollah continued to intensify.
Authorities reported heavy bombardment in areas around Tyre, along with nearby villages and coastal regions. Rescue teams worked through damaged sites as casualties were confirmed in multiple locations.
Deadly strikes reported in Tyre and surrounding villages
Nine people lost their lives in the town of Tayr Debba after a series of air and drone strikes. Additional attacks in nearby villages also caused fatalities.
Three more people were killed in Deir Qanoun el Nahr after two separate strikes. In Seddiqin, two more deaths were reported following another strike.
Local reports also confirmed one death in the Massaken al Shaabiya area of Tyre, where strikes continued throughout the day.
Car strike reported in Sidon
An additional strike hit a vehicle in the coastal city of Sidon. Witnesses reported an explosion followed by a burning car. Rescue teams removed two people from the vehicle, but both were later confirmed dead.
Continued military exchanges in the region
The Israeli military stated it targeted multiple infrastructure sites and rocket launch positions linked to Hezbollah activity in southern Lebanon. It did not immediately respond to all of the reported strikes on Wednesday.
In response, Hezbollah said it launched rocket fire and shell attacks on Israeli troop positions in southern areas of Lebanon. The group claimed responsibility for several coordinated attacks on military gatherings and vehicles.
Rising regional tension involving Iran and the US
The escalation comes amid broader regional tensions involving Iran, Israel, and the United States. Iranian officials have warned against continued military action and linked any potential agreement discussions to wider regional issues, including Lebanon.
Talks involving US President Donald Trump and Iranian officials have also become more strained as cross border attacks continue.
