One question on “Jeopardy!” confused competitors by combining arithmetic and geography.
The Final Jeopardy clue for the game show’s February 15 edition was under the heading “Landmarks.”
Contestants were given the following prompt: “It is as wide as it is tall, with a distance of 630 feet between its two legs at ground level.”
David Bederman, James Tyler, and Diandra D’Alessio were vying for the last position in the Champions Wildcard semifinals, but they were having trouble coming up with the correct response.
“JEOPARDY!” AFTER MAYIM BIALIK’S EXIT, SHOWRUNNER SAYS KEN JENNINGS HAS “REALLY WON THE JOB.”
Tyler proposed Christ the Redeemer in Brazil, while D’Alessio and Bederman picked the Eiffel Tower. However, none of those guesses was accurate.
The Gateway Arch in St. Louis, Missouri, was the correct response.
The host, Ken Jennings, stated, “You can actually inscribe the arch in a square,” after disclosing the solution.
Tyler and Bederman staked everything they had, and neither of them won.
D’Alessio led with $24,600 heading into the last round, but she only wagered $1001, bringing her down to $23,599 and sending her to the semifinals.
